Project: Sierra Leone. October 2021 – November 2022.
Vulnerable people in the seventh poorest country in the world can now obtain eyeglasses.
We have funded the training of four local optometrists (almost half of the optometrists in the country) and equipped and built two optical centres with an optical shop and workshop, in collaboration with the English NGO Vision Action. Thanks to this, extremely poor people now have access to quality eyeglasses.
In 2024, almost 4,500 people were attended to and nearly 2,000 received new glasses.
There are also new school vision screening programmes, which will undoubtedly improve academic performance and, with it, the opportunities for a better life for many young people in these regions.
