Ophthalmology Centre in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso

Burkina is the eighth poorest country in the world.

We have trained two ophthalmologists, an optometrist, a biomedical engineer and a laboratory technician. The new facilities include consulting rooms, an operating theatre, an optical shop, an optics workshop and laboratories, all operating at the Eureka Medical Centre, located in one of the poorest neighbourhoods of the city.

This has been possible thanks to the tireless work and passion of its director, the Burkinabe Carmelite priest Father Eugenio Kabore. We have received support from the Logroño City Council, the Government of La Rioja, and the collaboration of our partner NGO, the Burkina Health Foundation (UK), with whom we collaborate on the project.
