On July 23, 2021, the 193 member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first-ever resolution on vision.

This is the first agreement adopted at the United Nations to address vision loss, recognizing eye health as a fundamental component for achieving the SDGs. The resolution creates new expectations for international financial institutions and donors to provide specific funding, particularly to support developing countries in tackling preventable vision loss.
